I grew up in Denver, Colorado and attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I received Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of 20. I tried hard to live up to the expectations of being a Christian, but I never really understood who I was in Christ.
I got married when I was 24 and we had two beautiful daughters. We were married for 15 years until mental illness began to take over his decision making abilities. God showed me it was time to leave with my children and move back to Denver where my parents lived. I put all my focus on surviving and raising my children.
Later, as my daughters got older and I got lonely I decided to try dating. I found a man who immediately “fell in love” after he saw my home. There were several red flags - but I “knew” that God could turn anyone around. He would frequently lie, smoke, drink heavily, and curse. But he assured me that God knew his heart. I ignored the signs and “knew” that God could fix anyone.
Just before I walked down the aisle God asked me, “Are you sure you want to do this?”
“I have to do this. I have the dress. All the people are here, and I don’t want to embarrass him. He would be so angry if I did that.” So I married him with tears streaming down my face.
I had the opportunity to hear everything that was wrong with me - everyday. When the money wasn’t coming fast enough, my jewelry would suddenly disappear. I was miserable and cried daily. I reached out to the counseling department at church.
God changed my life. I really began to understand who I was in Christ, how much God loved me, and the only opinion of me that really mattered was God’s. I began to see how my pleasing behavior put me in positions that God never intended for me.
At 5:00 one morning God spoke to me to “End it now.”
God has blessed me and shown me how to trust Him in every area of my life. He has shown me how to forgive and heal from the past. He has also shown me that I will get married again. He just wants to make sure I am patient and trust Him to bring me the husband He has for me. God encouraged me to get my Pastoral Counseling Certification. I have been counseling women since I completed the program in 2018. Then, God told me to become a Pastor. I was ordained in 2022.
I learned what happens when I try to do things without God. I learned what happens when I allow the lies and the brokenness from my past to dictate what I do in the present. My life is filled with more joy, peace, hope, and love than I have ever experienced before. God placed on my heart the desire to help single, Christian women grow and thrive in their single fabulousness. So, as I walk in the Victory of Christ, I am working to bring as many single women as I can to join me!!
